One small store. One big mission.

We Yone — pronounced "We-Yon," meaning "our own" — opened on West 2nd Street in San Bernardino in 2001, when there were almost no African groceries west of Los Angeles. Families from Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, Trinidad, Cameroon, and Liberia were driving hours to find palm oil, egusi, fufu, stockfish, ackee, and saltfish.

So we built a market that carried it all. And a kitchen that cooked it the way it was meant to be cooked.
